This stream of the 2025 Small Business Grants was for social enterprises, defined in this program as a business that derives most of their income from trade and uses profits to contribute to their social mission.

A social enterprise consultancy that helps organisations to better understand their communities and realise their social impact goals.

The funding will support a workshop with five not-for-profit partners to pilot their new impact training package and build strategic partnerships. This workshop will also facilitate the creation of audiovisual materials for storytelling and case studies. Additionally, the funding will contribute to essential technological upgrades.

Amplify Bookstore

Australia’s first bookstore dedicated to selling books by authors of colour. It is a purpose-driven operation that was founded in response to the lack of diversity in publishing and make books by authors of colour more available.

The funding will support the purchase of furniture, POS equipment, and stationery for their first brick-and-mortar shop next to the Queen Victoria Market and Purpose Precinct on Peel Street, after exclusively running the business online.

The Creative Co-Operative

An all-rounder creative services consultancy exclusively delivered by migrant women of colour with a focus on lifting economic and social barriers faced by First Nations, black and women of colour.

Funding will upgrade website with e-commerce functionality, event registration, and integrations, to expand their reach. It will also enable development of a corporate version of their free trauma-informed support platform to diversify offering and open new revenue streams. These improvements will strengthen their community engagement, service delivery, and long-term impact.

A streetwear work integration social enterprise and charity putting 100 per cent of its profits towards its mission: supporting young people affected by homelessness or hardship.

The funding will support the fit-out of their first city store (location to be confirmed), their second location, complementing their existing store in Fitzroy.

Leadership Victoria

Not-for-profit social enterprise with over 30 years’ experience in leadership programs to connect and empower diverse leaders across Victoria.

Funding will enhance their customer relationship management systems and related technologies, enabling more effective engagement with 7,000 alumni, including 1,400 Williamson Fellows. The upgrade will transform relationships into referrals and donations.

Local Transit Co

A work-integrated social enterprise operating as a commercial passenger vehicle company and bus operator, Local Transit provides demand-responsive and disability-inclusive transport solutions while creating employment opportunities for migrant and refugee taxi drivers.

The funding will support the cost of their unique accessibility experiences, including evaluation and reporting components.

Meals with Impact

A not-for-profit work integrated social enterprise that supports women from migrant and refugee backgrounds affected by barriers to employment to find sustainable, meaningful work through the co-creation of food.

The funding will support the upgrade of their website to a fully functional e-commerce platform to grow revenue more efficiently and enhance user experience.
