Talking to a General Practitioner (GP)
Your GP is often a good place to start to discuss your current circumstances and experience of your mental health. GP's can refer you to a mental health practitioner or other clinical services near you, such as a psychologist. Your GP can also create a Mental Health Treatment Plan for access to Medicare-subsidised services.
In some cases, your GP appointment can be bulk-billed. This means you will not have to pay for your visit to see them. The find a health service tool External link on the healthdirect website can be used to search for your nearest bulk- billing GP service.
