Youth services

The City of Melbourne funds the delivery of a range of crisis, social support, recreation and education programs for young people in the municipality.

We support young people aged 12-25 years in a range of ways, including direct service delivery through our libraries, recreation centres, SIGNAL ArtPlay, arts hubs and programs for International Students. We also fund a range of crisis, social support, recreation and education programs for young people through grants and contracts.

Youth services are open to any young person who is aged 12 to 25 years and lives or studies in the City of Melbourne.

Learn more about the support and programs available in our Guide to Melbourne for young people.

We work to make sure all our programs and services are inclusive and welcoming. To ensure our services continue to adapt to changing youth demographics and respond to their needs, we undertook a comprehensive Youth Services review in 2024.

We are now developing a long-term Youth Strategy to implement the review’s recommendations.

We look forward to working with young people in the community so they can be heard and accommodated in decisions made across the City of Melbourne, including the service requirements for the next Youth Services contract.
