Displaying your parking permit

To receive parking allowances, your permit must be displayed correctly.

Place the permit on your dashboard or attach it inside your vehicle, making sure that all details are clearly visible from outside the vehicle on the passenger side.

Your permit must show:

  • QR code (scanned by parking officers to validate the permit)
  • Permit number
  • Expiry date
  • International Symbol of Access (for ADP permits)
  • Vehicle registration (for permits issued to organisations)
  • Security features

If you have a City Access permit issued by the City of Melbourne, it must be displayed alongside your ADP or DT permit.

Request an accessible parking bay

If you live in the City of Melbourne and have an ADP permit, you may be eligible to apply for an accessible parking space outside your home.
To apply, you must:

  • live permanently at an address in the City of Melbourne
  • have a vehicle registered to that address
  • not have access to off-street parking
  • have a condition that will significantly affect your mobility for 12 months or more.

We assess applications for eligibility and consider whether the kerbside outside your home can accommodate an accessible bay.

We’ll contact you with updates during the assessment or if we need more information.

Better parking in your neighbourhood

Parking improvements

We’re delivering our Parking and Kerbside Management Plan. That means we’re reviewing and revising the parking in all neighbourhoods across the City of Melbourne to make parking simpler and fairer.

Improvements include cheaper rates for off-peak times and free parking for short stops under 15 minutes with the EasyPark app.
