The stream of the 2025 Small Business Grants was for a small business that delivers circular outcomes or will implement circular economy solutions where products, services or initiatives avoid, reduce, or design out waste.

The funding will provide local composting solutions to businesses in Kensington, achieved through collecting organic material and diverting it through a publicly accessible compost hub.

MAKE Studios

Market stalls

Sustainability design and innovation agency helping others develop products and services (partnering with STREAT).

Funding will be used for a plastic shredder and extruder (unit supplied by Precious Plastics) to take market plastic waste and turn them into new products. They will host workshops and upskill staff to build the circular capability at the Queen Victoria Market.

SUSURO

An urban winery and cellar door committed to sustainability and zero waste based in Fishermans Bend.

Funding will be used to establish a mushroom farm utilising coffee grounds and cardboard in Fishermans Bend to create a substrate for the mushrooms to grow on. The grant will be spent on shipping containers and fit-outs to enable suitable conditions for the mushrooms to grow.

Funding will be used to pilot the app at Queen Victoria Market, trialling the online marketplace for reuse and refill companies.
