Parkville is a large neighbourhood in the north-west of City of Melbourne, known for its heritage homes, tree-lined streets, vast parklands, and major public institutions, including the University of Melbourne’s main bustling campus and residential colleges.
Parkville forms part of the ‘City North’ innovation precinct and is home to major hospitals, research and institutional facilities including the Royal Melbourne, Royal Women’s and Royal Children's hospitals, the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Royal Park, the city’s largest open space, is in Parkville, comprising a mix of recreational facilities, including one of Melbourne’s major tourist attractions, Melbourne Zoo.
