Parking permits

Parking permits provide a fair and efficient parking system for residents, business operators, visitors and people with special parking needs.

Cars looking for parking

A range of permits are available for people with specific parking needs, to help make it easier to park and get things done in the City of Melbourne.

As the city continues to grow and change, we need to use existing kerbside space in a way that considers the needs of all users. Parking permits are one way we manage parking demand and make sure people with a genuine need can access parking on the street. This means optimising access for people with special parking needs like people with disability, healthcare workers, business operators, visitors and residents.

Better parking in your neighbourhood

Parking improvements

We’re delivering our Parking and Kerbside Management Plan. That means we’re reviewing and revising the parking in all neighbourhoods across the City of Melbourne to make parking simpler and fairer. Improvements include cheaper rates for off-peak times and free parking for short stops under 15 minutes with the EasyPark app.
