Liquor enquiries

The City of Melbourne provides planning information to businesses in relation to a licenced premises in the municipality.

Planning Scheme Amendment VC286 was gazetted by the Minister for Planning on 1 July 2025, as a result Clause 52.27 (Licensed premises) has been removed from the Victorian Planning Provisions. A planning permit is no longer required for the sale and consumption of liquor.

A planning permit may still be required for certain land uses depending on the Planning Zone applicable. Please ensure you are familiar with the relevant planning controls applicable to the site.
