Melbourne Fashion Week

Melbourne Fashion Week (M/FW) will return in October 2026, packed with a program that celebrates our city’s vibrant and diverse fashion community.

Melbourne Fashion Week (M/FW) is a celebration of Melbourne’s vibrant and diverse fashion community, inviting audiences to engage with fashion in all its forms.

As the longest running consumer fashion event in the country, M/FW profiles the city’s fashion scene, where style, creativity and individuality take center stage. The program is renowned for showcasing the creativity, innovation and diversity of emerging, independent and established designers and brands while driving retail sales within the city.

The City of Melbourne is proud to own, fund and annually deliver M/FW to position Melbourne as Australia’s fashion capital, whilst supporting the city’s broader retail, arts, design and hospitality sectors. The program is designed to support revitalising the city’s independent fashion and boutique culture, by strengthening support for local designers, artists, and businesses.

Our commitment to equity and inclusion

At Melbourne Fashion Week, we are working to foster an inclusive and equitable environment where everyone is respected, valued and empowered to thrive, connecting back to City of Melbourne's commitment and vision of a truly inclusive Melbourne. Our Equity and Inclusion Policy ensures that all participants – models, industry professionals, production team, designers, volunteers, and attendees – are supported, encouraged, and safe to express their unique identities.

We recognise the structural and systemic challenges faced by many minority groups in the fashion industry – including BIPOC individuals, LGBTIQA+ communities, people with disabilities, mature-age individuals, plus-size individuals and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We unequivocally oppose prejudice, discrimination, or bias of any form.

We believe diversity fuels creativity and innovation in fashion and is crucial to authentically reflect our society. Our commitment to fostering a more just and representative environment is an important contribution to the ecosystem of the Australian fashion industry as a whole.

By prioritising genuine inclusivity, respecting diverse identities, and holding ourselves and our stakeholders accountable, we aim to create a cycle of care that listens to and truly hears the voices of others, cultivating a culture of safety and respect for all.
