Melbourne Clean Team
The Melbourne Clean Team keeps our city sparkling clean.
The team is out and about in bright uniforms working seven days a week monitoring dedicated precincts across the CBD, North Melbourne and Carlton. Each precinct is patrolled by one Melbourne Clean Team cleaner between the hours of 7am and 7pm during daylight savings and the hours of 7am and 3pm for the remainder of the year.
Armed with litter pickers and cleaning materials, the team focuses on the more detailed aspects of city cleaning including removing litter, collecting tree debris, spraying and wiping street furniture, deodorising and reporting any occupational health and safety issues.
Rapid Response Clean Team
Our Rapid Response Clean Team patrols the CBD in bright blue uniforms seven days a week. The team responds in real time to requests for street cleaning and graffiti removal.
It’s easy to make a report. Use the report buttons at the top of the page and the team will respond as a priority in Rapid Response Clean Team vehicles.
You spray, you pay
At the Future Melbourne Committee meeting on Tuesday 18 February 2025, Councillors endorsed a range of new measures to crack down on illegal graffiti offenders. These include:
- introducing a ‘You Spray, You Pay’ policy to help recover the cost of damage to property and save ratepayers money
- partnering with neighbouring councils to ensure graffiti is removed along shared boundary roads
- advocating for Victorian Government agencies to adopt a consistent set of Council’s standards for graffiti removal.
We will provide further updates as this work progresses.
