South Yarra is located to the south of the Yarra River Birrarung and the east of St Kilda Road.
South Yarra to the west of Punt Road is within the City of Melbourne features heritage buildings leafy streets, The Alfred Hospital and major open spaces like Fawkner Park offering diverse recreation. To the east of Punt Road is within the City of Stonnington.
The Domain Parklands are within South Yarra and cover nearly 123 hectares of Melbourne’s most beautiful parks and gardens, including the Royal Botanic Gardens, Shrine of Remembrance, Sidney Myer Music Bowl and the Kings Domain.
Did you know?
South Yarra is on the lands of the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung peoples. Both are part of the Eastern Kulin, an alliance of five Traditional Owner groups that share similar languages or wurrungs. Kulin means 'the people'.
