Getting around the city

We know there’s always a lot happening around the city. Whether it’s major construction works or events, disruptions can impact how you get from A to B. To make your journey as easy as possible, we’ve compiled a list of what’s happening across the central city and our neighbourhoods.

Cars stopped beside a sign saying road closed

While we aim to keep this information as current as possible, please use it as a guide only. Sometimes roads will close at short notice due to an emergency or unplanned works.

You can also check Google Maps External link to plan your journey - and to find out more about different routes, check the notifications listed below.

For real-time updates about traffic conditions, please visit VicTraffic External link. For information about public transport, check the PTV website External link or download the PTV mobile app External link.

Plan your journey with our new interactive map

From major construction works to events, disruptions can impact how you get around the city. We’ve designed this map to make your journey as easy as possible – helping you see what’s happening across Melbourne and where.

Slide the bar at the bottom of the screen to the right to see what’s causing disruption over the next three months. You can also select a date range to see what’s happening over a specific time period.

Click the highlighted areas to reveal more details about the individual impacts – where there are multiple disruptions in one place, scroll through the details about each disruption using the arrows in the pop-up.

For live traffic updates, we also recommend checking Google Maps and PTV when planning your journey.

If you’d like to share your feedback on the map, please email us at enquiries@melbourne.com.au with the subject line ‘Disruption Map’.
