Healthy Choices and Food Policy
The City of Melbourne Food Policy states our commitment to ensuring that we have a food system that is secure, healthy, sustainable, thriving and socially inclusive. This includes working with partners and our community to improve access to healthy and nutritious food, and enabling people to make food choices that enhance their health and wellbeing.
Moomba 2026
The Healthy Food Choices program commenced at Moomba in 2012 and has evolved every year. Council wants to ensure Moomba Festival visitors have access to fresh, nutritious and affordable food choices as part of their event experience.
Caterers participating in Moomba 2026, who offer savory main dishes will now be required to submit one menu item for inclusion in the Healthy Choices program and assessed via FoodChecker online.
This year we have partnered with The Healthy Eating Advisory Service, to provide a step-by-step guide for caterers accessing FoodChecker.
It is recommended caterers take the time to view this presentation video External link, prior to submitting the EOI application.
Proceed with FoodChecker External link.
