Lord Mayor's Student Welcome 2026

Join the City of Melbourne as we welcome new and returning students with a celebration at the Queen Victoria Market in 2026. Bring your friends or make new ones at the event.

The Lord Mayor's Student Welcome is a free, yearly event that welcomes new and returning students to the city and celebrates international students' contributions to Melbourne's cultural life and diversity. 

Date: Wednesday 11 March 2026

Time: 5.30pm

Location: Live music stage, Summer Night Market at Queen Victoria Market

Enjoy free live performances including Kpop dance showcase

Enjoy different cultural performances on the live stage including African drumming, international student singing and a selection of Kpop dance performances.

Full program available in late February.

Experience fun activations and opportunities to receive food vouchers

There will photo opportunities at our media spaces, designed by our student volunteers, activities, face painting and giveaways.

We are offering food vouchers to enjoy on the night, but registration is required. For food voucher registration, please check our newsletter and Instagram for updates in early March 2026.

Meet the Student Welcome team

The Student Welcome volunteers have supported in co-design and event operation of the Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome 2026. 
Our group of international student volunteers will be there to support you during the event. Look for them in the Student Welcome blue t-shirt around the area.
