10 May

What Would We Be if We Were Under the Sea explores our connection to the sea and its creatures as well as looking at life lived by the sea, our impact on nature and how we intercept, curb and live with the pervading danger of rising sea levels.

Referencing myths, art history and interactions of humans with other species, as they connect and disengage to survive.

The exhibition started as a small bronze work titled Sea Horse Woman, which then evolved into a series exploring gender balance and fluidity. A representation of the depths of the ocean, creativity and the sensuality of Mother Nature. Female seahorses pass eggs to the male to carry, a symbol of amazing partnerships between the genders. They change color to camouflage and use their tails to anchor themselves to objects.

The window gallery will transform into an installation of sea creatures made with natural and recycled materials, a combination of three dimensional and base reliefs in various materials.
